A special shout out to Lynn, who is a ray of sunshine all on her own, and always welcoming and smiling, seeing her feels like meeting an old friend each time we visit!Īll in all this was another fantastic mini break, and the hotel complements what is for us a lovely part of Northumberland. The staff are for the most part quite young, but are extremely attentive, helpful, and unfailingly polite. This is something my wife and I particularly enjoy, and we are both in agreement that it is one of the best to be found anywhere. It should also be noted that the afternoon tea is outstanding, and not to be missed. The breakfast is very well done, with a particular recommendation going to the yoghurt/granola/fruit pot, delicious □ The food is fresh, well prepared, and nothing is too much trouble. There is a very comfortable lounge area for pre-dinner drinks or coffee or a drink afterwards. The hotel has a lovely restaurant with a good set selection of three courses (or two), we ate here on the first night of our four night stay, and the food was excellent, as was the service. The room could have done with a better placed mirror for hair drying according to my wife, but this is a minor criticism and she made do, but otherwise it was a very comfortable room, and we also made good use of the large supplied fan! There is a large walk in shower and good sized bathroom (no bath). We stayed in Room Dunstanborough, on the second floor, this is one of the luxury rooms, at the front of the hotel, and is very well appointed, with a large bed, and two easy chairs. The hotel has undergone some changes since our stay in August of 2022, with updated decor and furnishings (not that there was anything wrong with it before), but it is just a very smart yet homely feel, and Debbie (the owner) and her team have done a first class job. read more to feel welcome be it a first stay or a return.
